Sydney Rector
Jul 13, 2022

If you’ve been following us over the last few weeks, you might remember this familiar face. We are happy to introduce Paramedic Sydney Rector as this week’s #MedicMonday! Sydney was recently featured after graduating from her bridge program from CRT to Paramedic. If you didn’t see that post, you may have seen her on a call, or pulled over on the side of the road to pet a goat/dog/cat. You can always count on her to ask “Did you see that dog?!” at multiple points throughout the shift. Our resident pet lover is currently assigned to Paramedic 2 (Central) on B Shift.

Name: Sydney Rector

How long have you been with Cecil County/Local 4645?: 2 years

How did you start in EMS?: I started volunteering with the fire department when I was 16 years old and fell in love with the job while going through EMT class. After a few years as an EMT I went on to get my Paramedic.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?: The most rewarding part of my job is getting to meet and serve everyone in the community, their families, and pets.

Tell us about your life outside of work: When I’m not working, I spend my time at the state park kayaking and going hiking with my 3 dogs. I enjoy traveling and visiting new places. I also work part-time at Cockeysville Volunteer Fire Department.

What is an interesting fact about you that people might not know?: I had 2 hedgehogs as pets when I was a kid.
